The federal government has requested Indian syringe makers to carry up shares of syringes by two months, as Covid-19 numbers recede and vaccination drive slows down. In an e-mail dated February 14 to syringe makers, Central Medical Service Society advised the producers to postpone the availability of 0.5 to three ml syringes.
“In view of the present availability and estimated requirement of syringes for Covid-19 vaccination and Common Immunisation Programme, it has been determined to postpone the availability schedule of syringes,” the e-mail stated. ET has seen the e-mail addressed to syringe makers.
