On 5 November, Thailand’s Nationwide Power Coverage Committee (NEPC) agreed to purchase electrical energy from three hydroelectric dams in northern Laos. Electrical energy will probably be exported from the Nam Gneum III dam, at the moment being constructed by Chinese language companies in Xiengkhouang province, and one other two proposed dams to be constructed on the Mekong River at Pak Beng and Pak Lay, each inside 100 km of the Thai border.
