Naxal violence down by 77%: Govt to Lok Sabha

Naxal violence within the nation has lowered by 77 per cent, from an all-time excessive of two,258 in 2009 to 509 in 2021, Union minister Nityanand Rai instructed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The Union minister of state for dwelling Nityanand Rai stated the Central authorities has been supplementing the efforts of states as envisaged within the ‘Nationwide Coverage and Motion Plan to handle Left Wing Extremism’, which was launched in 2015.

He stated the steadfast implementation of the coverage has resulted in constant decline in violence and constriction of its geographical unfold.

“The incidents of LWE violence have lowered by 77 per cent from all-time excessive of two,258 in 2009 to 509 in 2021. Equally, resultant deaths –civilians and safety personnel — have lowered by 85 per cent from all-time excessive of 1,005 in 2010 to 147 in 2021,” he stated whereas replying to a written query.
