Makansutra founder KF Seetoh criticised elevating of the upper wage benchmark for Employment Cross (EP) holders as it could create a wealth hole between foreigners and Singaporeans – such disparity has already induced a lot disquiet and unease with our heartlanders.
Mr Seetoh stated this on his Fb web page on Tuesday (Mar 22). He was responding to the Manpower Ministry’s letter to The Straits Instances Discussion board web page, by its divisional director for manpower planning and coverage, Kenny Tan.
“They already stated no singaporeans need and shun these F&B jobs. And u go on about productiveness, benchmarking, funding, Complementary Evaluation Framework, job redesign and so forth..and nail their coffin with a ‘should proceed to draw and retain Singaporeans’.
“Such disconnect,” Mr Seetoh stated.
He added a dose of sarcasm: “It have to be very tough to control once you stroll on the clouds with no really feel of the bottom. It is extremely hurtful to the populace concerned in SMEs n Micro industries”.
“As you welcome and rent … ‘overseas abilities’ within the higher echelons, have u thought … who’s gonna drive them, prepare dinner (for) n serve them, wash their vehicles, look after them within the hospitals n dispense drugs and sweep the cthe grand roads they stroll on?
“Singaporeans? Which of them?” he concludes on a notice of incredulity.
