Tougher punishments for rogue traders approved

MPs yesterday accepted plans aimed toward delivering harsher punishments to rogue merchants, regardless of the federal government urging them to rethink the transfer as a result of it believes the legal guidelines are powerful sufficient.They unanimously voted in favour of amendments by the Shura Council to the 2012 Client Safety Legislation that will see offenders handed a minimum of a month in jail, or fined between BD5,000 and BD20,000, or each for promoting, possessing or selling counterfeit or tampered objects .
