The 12-minute movie, created by Amira Al-Shanti and produced by Interbang Productions in 2021, is a chunk of digital spoken phrase which explores the complicated emotions and identification of a Palestinian Diaspora in Scotland. It captures the intricate steadiness between the nostalgic romanticism of a homeland she can’t return to and the grim and harmful actuality of the oppression of Palestinians.
Al-Shanti had her West Finish debut on the earth premiere of Rumi on the London Coliseum. She supplied Arabic voiceover work within the Nationwide Theatre of Scotland’s screenplay adaptation of Adam (BBC Scotland) and has a wealth of different theatre work. Earlier items of her writing have been printed by the Herald, together with “Letters to JK Rowling” and “Being BROWN GIRL”.
