The Division of Meteorology says thunderstorms accompanied by extreme lightning are more likely to happen at a number of locations in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts.
Heavy showers above 100 mm could happen at some locations in these areas whereas pretty heavy showers above 50 mm could happen at some locations elsewhere too, it stated issuing an ‘Amber colour’ advisory.
There could also be non permanent localized sturdy winds throughout thunderstorms. Basic public is kindly requested to take satisfactory precautions to reduce damages attributable to lightning exercise.
