As Cambodia greets the 2022 wet season, farmers in Kampong Thom are commencing the cultivation of the season’s rice crops.
With rain beginning to fall within the provinces, the gradual cultivation of rice has begun, stated Pen Vanrith, Director of the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Kampong Thom, on Could 10.
The Director stated that farmers within the province have cultivated a complete space of 39,028 hectares, all of which had been ploughed with agricultural equipment. Farmers have already sown 27,821 hectares of the land, which 6,501 hectares are reserved for heavy paddies and 18,348 hectares for gentle paddies.
On the identical time, farmers in Kampong Thom province planted 27,412 hectares of rain-fed crops, together with 326 hectares of watermelon, 102 hectares of maize, 181 hectares of greens, 26,787 hectares of cassava.
