The U.S. Division of Justice has seized a cargo of Iranian crude in a Russian tanker in Greek waters and employed a vessel to carry it to the U.S.
Greek officers mentioned the Russian-flagged Lana was stopped on the Greek island of Karystos in April, and a courtroom ruling in Athens final week allowed the cargo to be seized.
“The seizure got here on the request of the Individuals as a result of the cargo got here from a sanctioned nation and moved on a sanctioned ship,” a Greek official mentioned. “The oil is being moved to a different tanker which can sail to the U.S.”
