The Election Fee of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday stayed the notification of recent MPAs on 5 seats of the Punjab Meeting after they fell vacant following the de-seating of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf s (PTI) dissident lawmakers.
The seats fell vacant after the ECP had de-notified 25 PTI dissident MPAs — 20 normal candidates, three girls, and two minority members — who had voted for PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz towards their celebration s line through the Punjab chief minister’s election final month.
In its ruling, the electoral physique stated that the notification would keep till by-elections are held.”
Final month, ECP had made a landmark resolution to de-seat the 25 PTI MPAs who went towards their celebration and voted for Hamza Shehbaz as chief minister of Punjab.
The ECP had stated that dissident lawmakers’ resolution represented the “worst type of betraying the voters and celebration’s coverage.” The de-notified lawmakers have been elected on normal and reserved seats.
