The I&B Ministry on Saturday requested Twitter and YouTube to take away from their social media platforms the movies of commercial of a fragrance model that triggered outrage for “selling sexual violence towards ladies”.
In letters to Twitter and YouTube, the Ministry of Info and Broadcasting mentioned that the movies had been “detrimental to the portrayal of ladies within the curiosity of decency and morality” and in violation of Info Expertise (Middleman Pointers and Digital Media Ethics Code).
The movies of the fragrance model sparked outrage amongst a big part of social media customers, who claimed the commercial sought to advertise sexual violence towards ladies.
“It has come to the discover of the Ministry of Info & Broadcasting that an inappropriate and derogatory commercial of a deodorant is circulating on social media. The Ministry has requested Twitter and YouTube to instantly pull down all cases of this commercial,” an official spokesperson mentioned.
The ministry, within the letters to Twitter and YouTube, mentioned that the Commercial Requirements Council of India (ASCI) too has discovered the movies in violation of its pointers and requested the advertiser to droop the commercial on an instantaneous foundation.
