11 years on, evacuation order lifted for part of ‘difficult-to-return’ Fukushima town

Okuma, Fukushima Pref. – Japan lifted an evacuation order Thursday morning for part of Okuma, a city in Fukushima Prefecture, that had been in place because the March 2011 nuclear accident.

The elimination of the evacuation order was the primary for a difficult-to-return zone within the municipalities that host Tokyo Electrical Energy Firm Holdings Inc.’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant, which suffered a triple reactor meltdown after a large earthquake and tsunami.
