Brussels: Preparatory work is underway within the European Parliament for the negotiations to start out with the Council of Minister on lifting of Schengen visa for Kuwaiti residents, European Parliament sources stated Thursday.
EU ambassadors Wednesday accredited the negotiating mandate for the EU Council of Ministers on the lifting of Schengen visa for Kuwait. On the idea of this mandate, the Council which represents the 27 EU states, will begin negotiations with the European Parliament.
“In the meanwhile, preparatory work is underway, however there isn’t but a date for the following official steps. Most likely these can be mentioned after the summer time recess, when the Parliament’s legislative work continues on 29 August,” the sources instructed KUNA.
The visa liberalisation proposals for Kuwait was made by the European Fee on 27 April and introduced within the European Parliament in Could, which was step one within the European Parliament process, stated the sources.
It should now first be mentioned by the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee for its approval, earlier than discussions and vote within the full European Parliament, famous the sources.
