ASHGABAT, 8 July 2022 – A convention marking 30 years since Turkmenistan signed the Helsinki Closing Act, and commenced its co-operation with the OSCE, occurred in Ashgabat yesterday. The convention was organized by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, in shut co-operation with the Ministry of International Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Opening the convention, Deputy Chairperson of the Cupboard of Ministers and Minister of International Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, acknowledged: “As a collaborating State, Turkmenistan is dedicated to fruitful co-operation with the Group for Safety and Co-operation in Europe in strengthening safety within the OSCE area.”
The International Minister emphasised that Turkmenistan’s priorities in co-operation with the OSCE embody the creation of environment friendly mechanisms of prevention and neutralization of worldwide conflicts, countering political and spiritual extremism, transnational threats, drug trafficking and cross border crime, in addition to the event of a contemporary mannequin of worldwide co-operation in financial, vitality and environmental spheres.

Established in 1999, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat is at present aiding Turkmenistan in fulfilling its OSCE commitments throughout three dimensions of safety.
