ARGALANT, Mongolia, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) — The variety of endangered Przewalski’s horses in Mongolia has exceeded 1,000, a Mongolian biologist has mentioned.
“At present, there are greater than 1,000 Takhi (Mongolian identify of Przewalski’s horse) in three places in Mongolia. Greater than 430 wild horses in 45 breeding harems are actually in our Khustai Nationwide Park,” Tsogt Batzaya, a Przewalski’s horses biologist on the park, instructed Xinhua.
This 12 months marks the thirtieth anniversary of Przewalski’s horses reintroduction to Mongolia.
A program to reintroduce Przewalski’s horses to Mongolia dates again to 1992 when 20 have been delivered to the Khustai Nationwide Park and the Higher Gobi Strictly Protected Space in Mongolia from zoos in Europe and Australia, in response to the Ministry of Surroundings and Tourism.
Earlier than this system was launched, the final document of the Przewalski’s horse within the wild occurred within the late Sixties in southwestern Mongolia, and thereafter no extra wild horses have been noticed, in response to a report printed by the journal of the World Affiliation of Zoos and Aquariums in 2012.
