Gainesville Excessive College went on lockdown Wednesday, Aug. 24, after a report of an armed theft of a taxi cab driver close to the college, police stated.
Gainesville Police Sgt. Jessica Van stated police responded to the Lee Road space relating to the armed theft report, which she stated was unrelated to the highschool.
“Out of an abundance of warning as a consequence of shut proximity to the highschool, they had been notified and positioned on lockdown,” Van stated.
Van stated all individuals of curiosity are in custody and being questioned, although she didn’t say how many individuals had been in custody. The sergeant stated prices are pending.
“We applaud the fast response of GHS management to make sure the protection and wellbeing of our college students,” the Gainesville Metropolis College System wrote on its Fb web page.
