New Delhi: The Union Cupboard chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday gave its ex-post facto approval for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Bangladesh for withdrawal of as much as 153 cusecs of water every by each the counties from the river Kushiyara which lies alongside the border through the dry season.
The MoU was signed on 6 September.
The MoU will allow the federal government of Assam to withdraw water from the river through the November-Might dry season. A joint monitoring group shall be arrange by each the international locations to watch the withdrawal of water by both sides.
The Kushiyara River is a distributary of the Barak River that flows in India’s northeast area and has a typical boundary with Bangladesh within the Sylhet district.
