The Punjab Vidhan Sabha continued to witness noisy scenes for the second consecutive day Thursday as Congress members sought the dismissal and arrest of Cupboard minister Fauja Singh Sarari and demanded a reply from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on the problem whilst Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan pulled them for getting into the Properly of the Home and losing lakhs in public cash by disrupting the proceedings over two days.
Amid the ruckus, three payments —the Punjab State Vigilance Fee (Repeal) Invoice, 2022; the Punjab Village Widespread Lands (Laws) Modification Invoice, 2022; and the Punjab Items and Companies Tax (Modification) Invoice, 2022 — had been handed within the Home.
The ruckus started instantly after CM Mann, who skipped Thursday’s session, arrived within the Home. Congress members, led by Chief of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, rose from their seats and demanded an announcement from Mann on an alleged clip through which Sarari was purportedly heard discussing methods to “lure” some contractors to “extort” cash from them. The MLAs trooped into the Properly of the Home elevating slogans towards the federal government and demanded that Sarari be dismissed.
