The Karnataka authorities on Friday determined to extend the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (SC/STs) quota within the state.

By Nagarjun Dwarakanath: The Karnataka authorities has determined to extend reservations for Scheduled Castes and Tribes within the state, in a significant choice forward of the meeting polls. It has been determined to hike the quota for SCs from 15 per cent to 17 per cent and for STs from 3 per cent to 7 per cent.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, after chairing a gathering of leaders of each the Homes to debate the Justice Nagamohan Das Committee report, stated the hike SC/ST quota, on the premise of inhabitants, has been an extended pending demand.
Accordingly, it was unanimously determined to extend reservations for the SCs to 17 per cent and the STs to 7 per cent.

Previous to this assembly, the difficulty was mentioned with senior leaders throughout an all-party meet. Moreover, a decision was adopted within the BJP core committee assembly held this morning to hike the reservation for SCs/STs in an effort to present its dedication to social justice, and to take authorized actions on this regard.
A cupboard assembly shall be convened on Saturday to debate all of the suggestions of the Justice Nagamohan Das Committee report and a last notification shall be issued on this regard. Within the coming days, selections concerning inner reservations among the many SCs/STs can even be taken in due session with consultants and leaders of all events.
At current there may be 15 per cent reservation for SCs, 3 per cent for STs and 32 per cent for the opposite backward lessons (OBC), which provides to 50 per cent. Chief Minister Bommai stated with the newest transfer, the quantum of reservation won’t be diminished.
The federal government plans to introduce the reservation underneath Schedule 9, as a result of it has judicial immunity. Tamil Nadu did it underneath Schedule 9 to extend reservations to 69 per cent.
