President instructs District Secretaries to provide immediate relief to those affected by bad weather

President Ranil Wickremesinghe instructed all of the District Secretaries to coordinate the reduction work with the assistance of the Catastrophe Administration centre for these affected by the prevailing dangerous climate situations.

The President has additionally talked about that every one needed provisions have been allotted via the Ministry of Finance and has directed the officers to supply all needed amenities together with meals and medication to the affected individuals. He has suggested the officers to pay particular consideration to the sanitary amenities of the affected individuals.

The President additional instructed the District Secretaries to work in coordination with all of the Divisional Secretaries and officers of the road ministries to get the help of presidency officers and the armed forces on this reduction program.

Based on the Catastrophe Administration Centre report as of October 16 2022, 15,404 households in 52 Divisional Secretariats have been affected by the robust winds, landslides and floods that affected 11 districts particularly Trincomalee, Galle, Kilinochchi, Kalutara, Gampaha, Colombo, Puttalam, Ratnapura, Kandy Hambantota and Kegalle. 

Because of the prevailing dangerous climate situations, 03 persons are reported lifeless and two persons are reported injured throughout the island.  The report said that 05 homes have been utterly broken and 193 have been partially broken.

It said that 1,927 individuals from 439 households who have been affected by the dangerous climate are being held in 21 secure centres throughout the island.
