COVINGTON, Ga. — A Covington man is going through an array of costs in reference to an incident through which a motorist with a handgun allegedly fired on state troopers as they tried to cease his fleeing car in a parking zone after it reached speeds of as much as 97 mph on I-20 Saturday evening.
Khalil Marshaun Jackson, 27, was charged with Fleeing, Aggravated Assault on a Regulation Enforcement Workplace, DUI, drug possession and firearms costs in reference to the Saturday evening incident in a shopping mall parking zone at Turner Lake Street and U.S. Hwy. 278.
A preliminary report acknowledged Georgia State Patrol troopers have been working a management machine to verify the speeds of automobiles close to the Almon/Crowell Street interchange on I-20 eastbound Saturday round 8 p.m. when a Volkswagen Jetta was clocked at 97 mph within the posted 70 mph zone.
