MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) — Afghan authorities reactivated the one silo three many years after it was rendered idle in Mazar-i-Sharif metropolis, capital of northern Balkh province, on Monday.
“For the time being one oven of the silo has begun operation to bake bread and efforts are underway to activate 18 different ovens to extend our merchandise,” director of the silo, Mohammad Jawed Sedidi, stated in his opening remarks.
Like different infrastructures, the erstwhile Soviet Union-made silo in Mazar-i-Sharif has been broken resulting from many years of conflict within the war-torn Afghanistan.
“With putting in essential machines and resumption of full flagged operation of the silo, job alternatives can be supplied for 400 individuals, together with 50 girls,” the official added.
That is the second silo that has been reactivated by the authorities within the war-torn Afghanistan over a number of months.
Earlier, the authorities reactivated the Kabul silo within the nationwide capital, which might produce bread, pastry and a wide range of muffins and cookies.
