Brunei Darussalam Central Financial institution (BDCB) yesterday stated it’s conscious of people allegedly claiming to be related to the central financial institution and misusing its identify and brand for enterprise transactions involving purchases of previous cash.
In a press release, BDCB warned that any one who makes use of the central financial institution’s identify, image, design or illustration with out its written permission or makes use of a reputation, image, design or illustration similar or resembles BDCB’s identify, image, design or illustration with the intentions of deceiving or to trigger confusion or to deceive or trigger confusion, is committing an offence below Part 74A of the Brunei Darussalam Central Financial institution Order, 2010, which carries a penalty of a positive not exceeding BND20,000 or imprisonment for a time period not exceeding seven years, or each.
BDCB suggested the general public to remain vigilant and cautious when receiving communication supplies purporting to be linked to the central financial institution by means of the unlawful use of BDCB’s identify, image, design or illustration, requesting for funds or private particulars.
