Kolkata Police has booked an FIR towards actor-politician Paresh Rawal over his controversial “prepare dinner fish for Bengalis” remark at a rally in Gujarat’s Valsad. CPI(M) West Bengal State Secretary Mohammed Salim had lodged a police grievance towards Rawal for his “anti-Bengali” comment.
Salim alleged that Rawal’s remark within the public area was provocative and will incite riots in addition to destroy the concord between the Bengali neighborhood and different communities throughout the nation.

After Salim submitted a grievance, a case was registered towards Rawal underneath IPC sections 153 (provocation with intent to trigger riot), 153A (selling enmity between completely different teams), 153B (propagates denial of rights to linguistic or racial teams), 504 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of the peace) and 505 (statements intending public mischief).

On December 2, the veteran actor had apologised after dealing with large backlash for his remark.
