Twenty-two female and male employees, cheated by unlawful brokers, had been stopped by border police throughout their try and cross the border into Thailand illegally to search for jobs.
This happened on the night of December 14 at Chambok village, Boeung Beng commune, Malai district, Banteay Meanchey.
In response to the order of Main Normal Sithi Loh, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner, 4 Chambok police pressure led by Lieutenant Colonel Meas Meng Huong prevented 22 individuals (9 females and 5 kids) from attempting to cross the border into Thailand.
Police stated that 13 had been from Banteay Meanchey, one from Oddar Meanchey, 4 from Battambang and 4 from Kampong Thom.
Huong stated that after interrogation and contracting, they had been handed over to the Malai District Police Inspectorate and returned to their hometowns.
