New Delhi: Hours after Opposition chief Rahul Gandhi was convicted in a 2019 defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ comment, the Congress Wayanad MP was disqualified from the Lok Sabha with efficient from 23 March.

Congress MP Jairman Ramesh stated his occasion will “combat this battle each legally and politically”.

Reacting to the order, BJP MP Vinod Sonkar stated: “This can be a Courtroom order, everybody ought to settle for it. The Courtroom convicted him. The style by which he insulted a neighborhood on the time of the elections… this has despatched out a great message throughout the nation.”
Earlier on Friday, protesting Congress MPs have been detained by the Delhi Police from Vijay Chowk.
