SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) seized important quantities of managed medicine with an estimated avenue worth of about $234,000 in an island-wide drug bust this week, that resulted within the arrest of 161 suspected drug offenders.

One notable arrest occurred on April 10 when CNB officers apprehended two Singaporean males, aged 32 and 36, in a resort room close to Geylang Street. The officers seized about 226g of heroin, 18g of ‘Ice’, three tablets of ‘Ecstasy’, and two Erimin-5 tablets, together with drug paraphernalia from the room.
In one other incident on April 11, a 59-year-old man was arrested from his hideout within the neighborhood of Lorong 7 Toa Payoh. The person resisted arrest, and CNB officers needed to forcibly enter the premises.
Subsequently, they recovered about 489g of heroin from the person and seized about 2,067g of heroin, 140g of ‘Ice’, one bottle of methadone, and varied drug paraphernalia from the hideout.
Superintendent Qamarul Zaman Bin Hussin, Deputy Commanding Officer of CNB Enforcement ‘L’ Division, emphasised the seriousness of drug abuse and its influence on society. He mentioned:
“Drug abuse is a critical menace to our society and if left unchecked, can result in dire penalties to the security and well-being of our individuals. Our officers is not going to let up our enforcement efforts towards drug traffickers and abusers in order that our households and youngsters can dwell in a secure and drug-free surroundings.”
