Chennai-bound Air India (AI) flight was delayed by over 4 hours at Sri Lanka‘s Bandaranaike Worldwide Airport (BIA) in Colombo on Might 6 after the sky marshal of the plane was detained by the safety company with a weapon on the BIA airport.
“The sky marshal was detained on the transit terminal (passengers) space with loaded firearms, delaying the flight by over 4 hours,” an official with information of the incident informed ANI.
In India, sky marshals or flight marshals had been launched in 1999 after the hijacking of the flight Air India IC 814 in Kandahar to stop hijacking in future. Sky marshal journey with loaded firearms/weapons in passenger (industrial) plane and may take motion within the plane for the aim of stopping hijacking. Sky marshals are recruited from the Nationwide Safety Guard (NSG) India‘s elite commando drive.
In accordance with the foundations, “the sky marshal is strictly prohibited from taking his weapons out of the plane and if the safety officer needs to exit the plane, he should hand the firearm over to the plane‘s pilot in command (PIC).”
