Hong Kong tightens customs checks on Japanese vegetables

Beijing – Hong Kong has successfully strengthened its customs inspections of greens imported from Japan, sources mentioned Tuesday.

Hong Kong had expressed security issues over Japan’s plan to launch into the ocean of handled radioactive wastewater from Tokyo Electrical Energy Firm Holdings’ Fukushima No. 1 nuclear energy plant, the positioning of the March 2011 triple meltdown.

The Hong Kong regional authorities has already elevated the frequency of its radiation checks on Japanese fishery merchandise. The scope of strict customs checks is increasing to Japanese contemporary meals aside from fishery merchandise, the sources mentioned.
