A racing automotive comprised of digital waste has been unveiled by British Method E racing group Envision Racing. The drivable automotive, named Get better-e, was unveiled on the ExCeL exhibition centre in London forward of town’s e-prix race on 30 July, the ultimate race of the 2022/23 Method E season.
Envision Racing teamed up with artist and designer Liam Hopkins to design and construct the automotive from donated digital merchandise, together with iPhones, chargers, batteries and single-use vapes.
Annual e-waste manufacturing is on observe to achieve 75 million tonnes globally by 2030, with the UK producing the second largest quantity as a rustic in 2022.
Hopkins stated: “Sadly, at this time we select to discard and change electronics as an alternative of repairing and recycling them, resulting in a world e-waste disaster. By means of design and creativity, we need to present the problem of e-waste and its potential to speed up the creation of a round financial system.”
