Mani Ratnam’s iconic Hindi romantic thriller Dil Se.. clocked 25 years in the present day.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala, the movie was launched in theatres on August 21 in 1998. It charted the doomed romance between Amar, an All India Radio govt, and Moina, a member of a terrorist outfit. The visually gorgeous movie was backdropped on the insurgency within the northeastern state of Assam and was the concluding chapter in Ratnam’s ‘terrorist’ trilogy—preceded by Roja (1992) and Bombay (1995).
In an interview with Scroll, Ratnam revealed he hasn’t watched the movie in its entirety since its launch.
“I haven’t seen the movie in 25 years, so I don’t know the way it has stood. I’ve solely seen solely bits and items, and that too on mute – or any of my different movies, for that matter,” Ratnam was quoted as saying by Scroll.
Whereas not a significant box-office success in India, Dil Se.. was famous for Santosh Sivan’s beautiful cinematography and AR Rahman’s aching, great soundtrack.
The movie received two Nationwide Movie Awards – for greatest cinematography and greatest audiography (H. Sridhar).
Ratnam additionally received the Community for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) award for Dil Se.. on the forty ninth Berlin Worldwide Movie Competition.
