The Artists’ Union of Armenia launched a solo exhibition on Wednesday to mark the one centesimal anniversary of outstanding Soviet Armenian artist Tigran Tokmajyan, whose landscapes, figurative work and frescoes maintain a particular place within the Armenian effective arts of the twentieth century.
It’s the third exhibition organized by the Artists’ Union to mark a painter’s one centesimal start anniversary this 12 months. The union deputy head, Levon Abrahamyan, hailed them as humble artists and true devotees of the homeland. He expressed remorse that Tokmajyan’s artworks didn’t take pleasure in a lot recognition.
“Tigran Tokmajian has completed a fantastic job. I deeply remorse that Armenian society is aware of little or no about such an artist,” he stated.
Chatting with Panorama.am, the artist’s daughter, Arpine Tokmajyan, who’s the exhibition curator, stated that her father’s final solo exhibition was held 20 years in the past. Three solo exhibitions had been organized through the artist’s lifetime, she stated.
“My father was a modest man, his works weren’t coated by the media, he had no albums. So, I thought-about it my responsibility to arrange such an exhibition, which might create a whole image of Tigran Tokmajyan as an artist and current his legacy,” she stated.
The Yerevan exhibition runs by August 29. An exhibition honoring the artist will likely be held in his hometown, Gyumri, on September 2-12.
