Gainesville is seeking to purchase an deserted east-west railroad spur to increase the Midland Greenway from the Engine 209 Practice Park off Grove Road to Athens Road.The brand new space could be redeveloped as a “multi-use leisure path,” in line with a metropolis doc.With a purchase order settlement secured in February, Metropolis Council is about to vote Tuesday, Sept. 5, on whether or not to spend $385,750 for the three ½ acres owned by CSX Transportation Inc.
