KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 — Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has claimed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has set a “clear precedent” in terms of the dismissal of corruption instances in court docket.
“After this, when corruption instances are dropped one after the other, the lawyer common (AG) — who’s appointed by the prime minister — would be the foremost protect,” Syed Saddiq mentioned, implying that the AG could be made a scapegoat.
“My fear is that future governments will use this precedent set by a so-called reform-led Authorities.
“If he can, so can future PMs. Time will inform,” he posted on his X account (previously generally known as Twitter) final night time.
Throughout his winding-up speech for the twelfth Malaysia Plan Mid-Time period Assessment debate in Parliament yesterday, Anwar denied that he had a hand in Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi getting a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) for all 47 costs involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
He mentioned the choice was made by the lawyer common (AG), and questioned those that hurled allegations in opposition to him together with the Opposition bloc.
