Sri Lanka elected to UNESCO Executive Board

Sri Lanka has been elected to the Govt Board of the United Nations Academic, Scientific and Cultural Group (UNESCO) for the time period 2023-2027, throughout the forty second Common Convention of the inter-governmental group on Wednesday (November 15) in Paris.

Sri Lanka obtained 144 votes out of 188 member states voting on the stated election, co-securing the third highest vote depend from the area, with Bangladesh, the Ministry of Overseas Affairs stated in a press release.

The member states of the UNESCO elected 6 members, out of 9 candidates from the Asia-Pacific Area, to the UNESCO Govt Board.
