PARIS: Google mentioned Thursday it will cease customers from creating photos of individuals on its newly launched AI device, after this system depicted Nazi-era troops as individuals from various ethnic backgrounds.
The US tech large, which solely launched its revamped Gemini AI in some components of the world on February 8, mentioned it was “working to deal with current points” with the picture era characteristic.
“Whereas we do that, we’ll pause the picture era of individuals and can re-release an improved model quickly,” the corporate mentioned in a press release.
It got here two days after a person of X (previously Twitter) posted photos displaying Gemini’s outcomes for the immediate “generate a picture of a 1943 German soldier”.
The AI had generated 4 photos of troopers — one was white, one black, and two have been girls of color, based on the X person named John L.
