His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the brand new Az-Zakireen Mosque at RPN Kampong Meragang and carried out Friday prayer on the new mosque.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister on the Prime Minister’s Workplace and His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik.
His Majesty was greeted on arrival by Minister of Spiritual Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
His Majesty then signed a plaque and Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin recited takbir, signalling the official opening of the mosque.
Deputy Minister of Spiritual Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan delivered the Friday sermon, whereas the Friday prayer was led by Chief Syar’ie Choose Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
The brand new mosque can accommodate some 2,200 congregants with amenities together with bogs for individuals with totally different skills (OKU), lecture room, library, funeral administration room in addition to parking for OKU.
