Batik Air, full-service provider of Indonesia’s Lion Group, briefly suspended two pilots after they fell asleep within the cockpit throughout a home flight in late January, the provider mentioned in a press release.
Flight 6723 was on its approach to Jakarta from Kendari in Sulawesi on Jan. 25 with 153 passengers on board when neither the pilot or co-pilot responded to communications from the air site visitors controller and one other airplane, in line with the Nationwide Transportation Security Fee. They had been attempting to contact the Airbus A320 after it didn’t observe the designated route and headed previous Jakarta towards the Indian Ocean.
Twenty-eight minutes after the final recorded transmission from the co-pilot, the captain awakened and have become conscious that the plane was not on the right flight path. He then noticed that his second-in-command, or SIC, was sleeping and woke him up, the NTSC wrote within the preliminary investigation report of what its described as a “severe incident.”
