The Human Rights Fee of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has directed Royal School, Colombo 7 to rectify the alleged improper appointments made to the Prefects Council for 2024.
The Human Rights Fee made this route following seven complaints filed by college students of Royal School who claimed their rights had been violated by the appointments of prefects for the yr 2024.
They cited the Principal of Royal School and Director – Nationwide Colleges and the Minister of Schooling and copies of the complaints had been despatched to the Schooling Ministry Secretary, the Minister of the Schooling and the Presidential Investigation Fee.
The HRCSL headed by Justice L.T.B. Dehideniya inquired into the preliminary complaints on Friday (March 15) and examined the appointment standards of two randomly taken prefect appointments and two that had been rejected.
The fee noticed irregularities and failures in following the required standards of these two appointed as Royal School prefects. The Fee has additionally discovered that two of these certified to be appointed as prefects had been denied their locations.
