The Cupboard of Ministers has accredited a proposal searching for permission to award procurement contracts for importing eggs from India.
This approval relies on the suggestions made by the Procurement Committee.
As such, 42 million extra eggs are to be imported to Sri Lanka, as per a Cupboard approval granted in December 2023.
On December 18, 2023, the Cupboard of Ministers gave the nod to import eggs from India till April 30, 2024.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka has so far imported as many as 18 million eggs from its neighbor, and 42 million extra eggs are but to be introduced in.
For this function, the Division of Animal Manufacturing and Well being has already obtained the proposed charges from the advisable Indian corporations.
