President Asif Ali Zardari conferred insignias of navy awards upon 42 officers of the Pakistan armed forces at a presidential investiture ceremony held on the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Sunday in reference to Pakistan Day celebrations.
The investiture ceremony was attended by senior navy officers, authorities officers and households of the award recipients. On the ceremony, the president conferred Sitara-i-Basalat (posthumous) upon Capt Abdul Wali Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom throughout a terrorist operation in North Waziristan.
Sitara-e-Basalat– Star of Good Conduct—is a non-operational gallantry award of Pakistan Armed Forces given to people for distinguished acts of gallantry, valor or braveness whereas performing their responsibility.
