Cambodia has ambitions to enhance its railway system, particularly high-speed rail.
Concerning the railway growth challenge in Cambodia, Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, stated that Cambodia has already studied and ready a plan. The railway growth plan in Cambodia is split into two phases: the medium part from 2023 to 2027 and the long run from 2028 to 2033.
In line with Peng Ponea, within the medium time period, Cambodia has three railway growth tasks, together with: remodeling the present two railways (Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh-Poipet) right into a faster-than-current railway; the second and third tasks are to construct a railway connecting Phnom Penh to Techo Worldwide Airport and connecting Siem Reap Worldwide Airport to Siem Reap.
Individually, for the long run, from 2028 to 2033, Cambodia has 5 railway growth tasks, together with the development of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh-Poipet high-speed rail and the development of Phnom Penh-Bavet high-speed rail to the Vietnamese border, Phnom Penh to Poipet by Kampong Thom and Siem Reap.
Along with these 4 high-speed rail tasks, Cambodia may also construct a railway system in Phnom Penh to facilitate the visitors of people who find themselves rising quickly.
