District correspondent : Tensions flared on the Kaliganj border in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj with residents from each Bangladesh and India on Saturday.

Locals stated that the scenario escalated when a gaggle of 500-600 Indians, allegedly assembled by the Border Safety Power (BSF), gathered close to the barbed wire fence and crossed into Bangladeshi territory. In response, Bangladeshi residents chased the intruders, resulting in a conflict.
Throughout the confrontation, Indian residents reportedly detonated a number of crude bombs, and BSF personnel fired tear gasoline shells to disperse the gang.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been working to calm the scenario.

Lt Col Golam Kibria, Commander of the 59th BGB Battalion, stated “The scenario is being introduced underneath management. Additional particulars might be disclosed after a full evaluation.”
