
Samarkand, Nov. 5 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain has been elected to chair the Arab Group on the United Nations Instructional, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the time period from January to December 2026. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the forty third session of the UNESCO Basic Convention, at present going down in Samarkand, the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, Ambassador of Bahrain to the French Republic, stated that the Kingdom’s assumption of the chairmanship, succeeding the United Arab Emirates, displays Bahrain’s energetic and influential position in worldwide organisations and the boldness its diplomacy enjoys regionally and globally.
He famous that the Kingdom will use its chairmanship to reinforce communication with numerous events and guarantee efficient coordination on unified Arab positions, serving the tutorial, cultural, and scientific pursuits of the Arab world.
The ambassador expressed appreciation to the UAE for its constructive efforts throughout its present chairmanship. He emphasised Bahrain’s dedication to persevering with joint work to reinforce the Arab Group’s presence inside UNESCO.
