The complainant, Dr Nidish Goel of Sector 23, mentioned that he paid a complete consideration of ₹30 lakh for admission to the MD course by NEET-PG 2021 and deposited ₹28 lakh as educational charges. He joined the school on Might 4, 2022, however alleged that he was subjected to steady ragging, harassment and exploitation by senior college students.

The college later submitted a re-investigation report, after which the UGC tried to contact the complainant. As no response was obtained, the case was closed, the UGC mentioned. Observing that the complainant had attended the course for just one month towards charges paid for one yr, the fee held that the seat had fallen vacant with impact from June 6, 2022. “Because the complainant attended the course for just one month, we’re of the view that the charges for the remaining 11 months are liable to be refunded,” the fee noticed.

On the difficulty of ragging, the fee mentioned it couldn’t adjudicate the allegations, as such claims require detailed examination and cross-examination of witnesses. It granted liberty to the complainant to pursue the matter earlier than an acceptable court docket.

The fee directed the college to refund ₹25,66,667 to the complainant and ordered the establishment to pay ₹20,000 as compensation for psychological agony and harassment and ₹10,000 in the direction of litigation prices.
