The rising costs of petroleum merchandise are starting to affect public transport, with the Punjab authorities reportedly contemplating a rise in Metro bus fares to ease the monetary burden of subsidies, sources stated on Saturday.

The sources stated a Rs10 hike is being mentioned for Metro bus companies in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, doubtlessly efficient from March 26.

Presently, Punjab supplies a subsidy of Rs31 billion throughout the province, preserving Metro bus fares at Rs30.

A Punjab authorities spokesperson, nonetheless, clarified that no ultimate determination on fare will increase has been made but.
