Air India plans to function a particular flight to Shannon on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) to carry stranded passengers to Delhi after their flight was diverted to the Irish city following a technical challenge with the plane.
On Monday (March 16, 2026), the airline’s A350 plane flying from New York to Delhi was diverted to Shannon resulting from a technical challenge. Later, the aircraft was grounded on the Irish city.
An official on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) stated the airline plans to function the particular flight on Wednesday, probably from Zurich, to ferry the stranded passengers from Shannon to Delhi.
The plane was diverted to the Irish city after it was airborne for almost six hours.
“Flight AI102, working from New York (JFK) to Delhi on 15 March, made a precautionary diversion to Shannon, Eire, following a suspected technical challenge. According to Air India’s excessive security requirements, the plane is at the moment topic to in depth technical evaluations, which would require additional time to finish,” the airline stated in an announcement on Monday.
Sources on Monday stated the plane skilled vibrations and noise, following which it was diverted to Shannon.
The plane was inducted into the Air India fleet in April 2024.
