The Lebanese Inside Safety Forces (ISF) introduced the arrest of a person accused of operating a rental rip-off concentrating on displaced households.
The Cybercrime and Mental Property Safety Workplace arrested George El Achkar (born 1990, Lebanese) after monitoring a collection of fraud circumstances carried out by social media platforms.
In accordance with the ISF, the suspect used a calculated strategy to deceive victims:
- Pretend identities: He created a number of accounts posing as an actual property agent or landlord
- Pretend listings: He shared advertisements for flats that don’t exist, concentrating on households urgently searching for housing
- Upfront funds: He satisfied victims to ship deposits or “arboun” by native cash switch providers
- Reducing contact: After receiving the cash, he blocked the victims and disappeared
Following a technical investigation and surveillance operation, authorities arrested El Achkar on March 16, 2026.
Throughout interrogation, he admitted to the fees and defined how he carried out the scheme.
The ISF confirmed that authorized motion has been taken, and the case has been referred to the judiciary. Investigations are ongoing to establish doable accomplices or related networks.
Authorities are urging anybody who might have been affected to report the case.
