The minister additionally attributed the division’s success to sensible enforcement, together with deploying automated quantity plate reader expertise at checkpoints to watch transport automobiles.

“Alongside income development, the division has intensified its crackdown on the illicit liquor commerce. Enforcement information for the 2025-26 monetary 12 months (as much as March 2026) reveals that authorities registered a complete of 1,09,077 circumstances, ensuing within the seizure of over 28.08 lakh litres of illicit liquor,” he stated.

“Moreover, 19,935 people concerned in unlawful enterprise had been arrested, with 3,721 despatched to jail and 143 automobiles used within the smuggling of illicit liquor had been impounded,” the minister added.

In reply to a question if the continuing battle in West Asia will affect liquor charges, he clarified that the liquor charges had been decided within the new coverage (2026-27) for one 12 months and won’t change because of the disaster there.

In the meantime, for the 2026-27 fiscal, the renewal and allotment of retail liquor and beer outlets have been performed by an e-lottery system. Within the first part of the allotment course of, particularly by the renewal mechanism, 25,613 liquor outlets had been efficiently renewed. Subsequently, 811 outlets had been allotted by the primary part of the lottery. The method for allotting the remaining 1,506 outlets is at present being carried out by way of an e-lottery.

UP capital Lucknow generated the very best ₹ 2,580.80 crore excise income adopted by Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida) with ₹2,418.50 crore, Ghaziabad ₹1889.26 crore, Kanpur Nagar ₹1,846.60 crore and Agra ₹1718.15 crore.
