At a press briefing, Highway Transport and Highways Secretary Anurag Jain stated the Silkyara tunnel venture in Uttarkashi continues to be workable, and the federal government is not going to abandon it.

The Ministry of Highway Transport and Highways (MoRTH), on December 6, constituted a five-member committee to analyze the collapse of the tunnel.
